Really dissapointed in Sixt

  • actually, it is correct, that various reservations are cancelled.

And Sixt is fully correct to do that and will have no problems to prove their point in court.

you should see the cars with 6000km after one week. A 200€ cleaning will by no means solve the damage done to the cars.

absolute waste of money and time.

you should thank your fellow Citizens and not complain about Sixt.

You are generalizing EU citizens like they all dirty and damage cars. What if you want a rent a car in portugal for a vacation and they deny german citizens because they drive too fast? even if its true does that risk not come with having a car rental business? They have no legal basis to deny EU citizens. Making cars dirty or damage it is no excuse to exclude all EU citizens from renting a car because there were some rotten apples.

denying other EU citizens because they make the cars "dirty" will not stand a minute in a court i can tell you that. :)

  • you mentioned specifically a certain group of EU citizens, I never said that they are denying cars to all EU citizens.

maybe you should visit a sixt station close to the dutch or French boarder and see yourself what is going on there.

it is very dangerous to engage in legal proceedings without knowing reality.

Protecting your own property is a very good reason not to conclude contracts. But seems like you know everything. Good luck!

But don’t complain herr later that sixt and Germany and your lawyer are fraudsters :)

  • again we were gladly helped by europcar

Your comment is not based on facts, Protecting your own property does not mean to exclude certain EU citizens because there were some incidents. The law says i have the right to rent a car as a eu citizen in every member state. Denying EU citizens is AGAINST the law and is geo blocking. Why is there no problem with europcar? ah i know what you really want... german cars only for germans

  • denying other EU citizens because they make the cars "dirty" will not stand a minute in a court i can tell you that. :)

The underpaid and in any case unspecialised Sixt lawyers, who have never been to court before, will bring that up for sure, so that you and your legal counsel will set an example that will erupt the car rental market in germany.

  • What you are saying is irrelevant.

the law says that there is Freedom of contract.

Neither Party can be forced to conclude a contract.

Insisting on racism is a very sad behaviour.
I explained the reason and you insinuate racism.

It would be easy for me to tell you why you did not have any Problems with Europcar.

but with your attitude, sorry, I am out of this conversation.

  • there is a freedom of contract. but there is no legal basis to terminate the contract based on someones nationality that is illegal. i posted a couple of reviews were people saying that the reason sixt gave why they were rejected was because they were dutch. what you dont understand?

  • I understand your Point. And I explained to you the reason why Sixt is specifically careful renting to dutch behind the dutch boarder.

Your assumption that they are all Nazis is wrong. There is a different reason. A sad but valid reason.

  • I can relate with the experience of the initial poster. In February 2022, at Sixt Köln Maritim hotel, my reservation has been cancelled…2 hours before I came, because I had not answered an email asking me for a picture (!) of my driving license. The people at the station were not friendly at all and disrespectful.

I wrote an email to Sixt management and they were very sorry about the behavior of their staff. They also sent me a 250€ voucher.

It seems that the staff of Köln sixt stations have a serious problem. I will never rent a car in koln again with sixt.

  • In case your EU cross border prepaid reservation is cancelled, you have the right to rent a car of the same (ACRISS)class with another car rental company. You should ask Sixt to reimburse you the costs by registered postal mail and give them a 14days reimbursment date. In case Sixt does not reply to your complaint, ask again and give them 14 more days. Then you can sue them or turn to the European Car Rental Conciliation Service (ECRCS). ECRCS is free of charge and does not cost you any legal fees. Important: you must have tried to reach a solution through the standard complaint procedure of Sixt before turning to ECRCS.
